XEOMIN® is a minimally invasive alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic injections that our Philadelphia and New Jersey patients choose to temporarily improve the look of expression lines, including frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow's feet. It is a medicine that is injected into the face to relax the facial muscles responsible for creating the dynamic wrinkles. XEOMIN® is a relatively new treatment for frown lines between the eyebrows and can only be dispensed in a medical practice. It is a purified protein produced by the bacteria, clostridium botulinum. After being injected into a muscle, XEOMIN® blocks nerve impulses, causing the muscle to relax.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is XEOMIN® used?

XEOMIN® treatments are administered in units in much the same way that most medications are administered, in milligrams. Each of our XEOMIN® patients receives a customized treatment and dosage. During your consultation, Dr. Timothy M. Greco will determine the amount needed to treat your areas of concern. The key to a successful treatment is to administer enough units to dramatically improve dynamic wrinkles while maintaining a natural expression to the face. Static wrinkles may be improved with the use of dermal fillers.

What should I expect after treatment?

XEOMIN® usually begins achieving noticeable results within 7 days after treatment. You will return 2 weeks after your initial visit for a follow-up evaluation. At this time, additional units of XEOMIN® may be injected to achieve the desired result.

Does an injection hurt?

When XEOMIN® is injected there is an initial minor stinging sensation for a few seconds. Once the injection is complete, there is minimal discomfort.

Where can XEOMIN® be injected?

The most common areas are the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal forehead lines, and the crow's feet. Dr. Greco is also using XEOMIN® more in the lower face to complement filler injections.

How long does a XEOMIN® treatment last?

Our XEOMIN® patients see results lasting 4 months, at which time another injection is required. After continued treatments, results may begin to last longer, sometimes up to 6 to 8 months. When a filler is injected into the same region, the filler results last longer since there's less movement in the area due to the relaxation of the muscles.

Are XEOMIN® treatments for everyone?

There are very few restrictions regarding XEOMIN® treatments. Patients who are pregnant or have certain neurological diseases should not be treated. This will be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Greco.
