JUVÉDERM® is a versatile hyaluronic acid dermal filler. This long-lasting formulation creates immediate improvement in skin wrinkles, texture, and appearance, which may be preferred as opposed to undergoing a more intensive, surgical procedure. JUVÉDERM®, a Philadelphia favorite, comes in 3 formulations, providing the ability to tailor treatment to an individual patient's needs. JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus provides volume for the face, while JUVÉDERM® Ultra is used for finer lines. JUVÉDERM® Voluma creates deep facial volume for cheek enhancement. Frequently, these fillers can be layered on top of each other to improve results.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus are the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers with results that last up to 1 year. JUVÉDERM® Voluma may last up to 2 years. JUVÉDERM® is also the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has proved to be safe and effective in patients with darker skin color. HA fillers similar to JUVÉDERM® used by Dr. Greco include Restylane®, Restylane® Silk, Perlane®, and Belotero®. Having considerable experience will all of these fillers allows Dr. Greco to utilize them to create a personal plan best suited for your unique scenario.

Dr. Greco is one of the premier facial injectors in the country and has taught thousands of physicians and nurses on the art of minimally invasive facial enhancement techniques. He is double board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. His practice is exclusively dedicated to aesthetic improvement of the face, head, and neck, and he has authored numerous papers as well as conducted pioneering research in facial plastic surgery.
He has been named as a "Top Plastic Surgeon" or "Best Plastic Surgeon" in numerous Philadelphia-based publications. Perhaps most importantly for the application of JUVÉDERM® is the fact that Dr. Greco was selected as an expert faculty injector for PaletteSM's instructional CD "Expert Injection Techniques," as well as the video titled "Anatomical Context of Facial Aesthetics."
Dr. Greco encourages his patients to view facial aesthetic treatments as a means of presenting their best possible face to the world, and not as a cure-all for life's problems. He will work with you to develop a realistic treatment plan to achieve your goals.
The active ingredient in JUVÉDERM®, hyaluronic acid, is a biodegradable substance naturally found within the body that helps to keep the skin youthful and provide volume and elasticity. Researchers discovered hyaluronic acid in the 1930s, also learning that it played an essential role in maintaining skin hydration and volume. The very first facial fillers utilizing hyaluronic acid were approved in the early 2000s and since that time, hyaluronic acid-based fillers like JUVÉDERM® have become one of the fastest growing non-surgical cosmetic procedures in North America.

Hyaluronic acid provides water retention for skin, ensuring that skin is hydrated and helping to combat the formation of wrinkles. As part of the aging process, the skin is exposed to environmental pollutants and ultraviolet rays and the body begins to lose its ability to produce hyaluronic acid. The result of this is that the skin loses hydration and volume, causing wrinkles and folds to develop.
Developed by the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic, JUVÉDERM® can be used to soften lines and wrinkles, smooth out the nasolabial folds (the folds running from the bottom of the nose to the outer corners of the mouth), and contour the face. JUVÉDERM® is also an effective treatment for earlobe rejuvenation to plump the earlobe and restore a youthful appearance. Only a single JUVÉDERM® treatment is required for results that last up to 9 months before a touch-up treatment is needed. The effectiveness of the treatment does vary from patient to patient depending on a number of factors.
During treatment, JUVÉDERM® gel is injected into the skin of the treatment area, instantly providing increased volume and creating a naturally youthful look. This filler can be used on its own or in conjunction with other fillers, like JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus or Voluma, or can be used after a facial plastic surgery procedure to put the "finishing touches" on the results. The entire process takes about 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of your treatment. The injection process itself might take less time, but Dr. Greco will discuss your specific expectations and needs before you agree on the appropriate treatment plan.
As an experienced thought leader Dr. Greco's contributions to facial aesthetics can be seen across key publications and media outlets.
Following your JUVÉDERM® treatment, Philadelphia patients will want to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive exposure to sun or heat, and significant alcohol intake for about 24 hours. Following Dr. Greco's aftercare instructions will decrease both the recovery time and the risk of potential complications or reactions to the JUVÉDERM® treatment. Unlike more invasive procedures, you can expect to see JUVÉDERM® patients choose to conceal swelling and redness with makeup 3 hours after injection.
As with any procedure involving an injection, there may be some discomfort when the injection is administered. Patients who are particularly pain sensitive can discuss their concerns with Dr. Greco, and a topical numbing agent may be applied prior to the treatment. Dr. Greco can perform a gentle nerve block, which provides superior comfort during your procedure. He utilizes a JUVÉDERM® formula that contains 0.3 percent lidocaine to further reduce discomfort.
Some patients experience minor symptoms, such as redness, swelling, mild pain, and small raised areas at the JUVÉDERM® injection site. These potential effects are brief and usually disappear within a few hours. Applying an ice pack to areas exhibiting swelling is a quick, simple, and effective method of reducing the symptom.
You may be asked to avoid certain medications in the days prior to or immediately following the JUVÉDERM® procedure. Aspirin and certain other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, for example, may prolong bleeding.
The cost of the procedure varies depending primarily on the amount of JUVÉDERM® you require for your particular treatment. During your consultation, we will discuss the various pricing options as well as review your medical history to determine your allergies and any medication you may be taking.

Because Dr. Greco has dedicated his practice solely to aesthetic enhancement of the face, head, and neck, he is uniquely qualified to provide a natural, youthful appearance with fillers. He takes pride in drawing on both his aesthetic ability and medical skill to address your facial concerns. He can use fillers like JUVÉDERM® to improve the contour of the forehead or to enhance depressed (sunken) temples, which can create an aged appearance. Patients who have had an aggressive upper lid blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery) and have a hollow, sunken look can have their natural, youthful fullness restored. He can also augment tear troughs to correct dark circles and enhance cheeks and the jawline to provide better youthful structure to the face. He is particularly artistic in creating natural lips without over-enhancement. He can contour your nose with filler to give you a "rehearsal" before you choose to have rhinoplasty. Plumping earlobes is a popular way of turning the wrinkled, atrophied look into a youthful appearance, which allows you to better show off your earrings.
Dr. Greco is a master in the use of the cannula procedure. This technique allows for less bruising and a safer, more comfortable experience. His patients who have experienced both the conventional and cannula techniques, express far greater preference for the cannula experience.
JUVÉDERM® treatment should be delayed for patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on immunosuppressive therapy.
