Facial Liposuction vs. Kybella®: What’s the Difference?

Extra fat in the chin area can make you appear older and overweight. Various surgical and non-surgical solutions can help you get rid of a double chin, creating a more sculpted, slimmer, and youthful face.

Fat reduction with Kybella® is one option for resolving this commonly seen concern. Another option is to have a facial liposuction procedure.

At Greco MD, we offer treatment with both Kybella injectables as well as facial liposuction as a means to help you get rid of excess fat.

If you are uncertain about which option will be right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Greco to discuss your cosmetic goals and determine the ideal treatment for you.

Facial Liposuction Treatment

Facial liposuction is an effective tool used by cosmetic surgeons around the world for body contouring and removing resistant fat build-up.

Facial liposuction is a surgical procedure where fat cells are dislodged and suctioned out of your body through a thin tube called a cannula.

Additionally, in some cases, a necklift may be recommended to remove unwanted fat, tighten the muscles in the neck area, and remove sagging skin. The results of submental liposuction and necklift can be enhanced with a chin augmentation procedure.

Where needed, all procedures may be performed simultaneously. Discuss your options with dr. Greco to understand the process well.

Facial liposuction offers more dramatic rejuvenation possibilities for the face than Kybella®.

Kybella® Treatment

Kybella® is an injectable containing a synthetic version of the same deoxycholic acid the body uses to break down fat during digestion. As a cosmetic treatment, it is used to destroy fat cells and is typically used to decrease small to medium double chins.

It is effective for removing fat from submental areas that do not respond to conventional weight loss efforts.

The fat eliminated with facial liposuction and Kybella® injections are removed for good. However, fat removal does not directly improve skin laxity. A tightening treatment will be required if you have a lot of excess and slack skin around the chin after the procedure.

One of the main benefits of Kybella® is how convenient it can be for patients. There is minimal preparation required. The treatment process, which involves a series of injections, only takes 15 to 20 minutes, and there is no need for anesthesia.
