Endoscopic Brow Lift vs. Lateral Brow Lift: Which Is Best for You?

Want to correct a low, sagging, or asymmetrical brow? The problem of a “too low” forehead may make you appear older than you actually are. To counter this, a brow lift can enhance the appearance of the brow area, as well as the eyes, by lifting and repositioning skin and underlying tissues to appear more youthful. This often has the effect of boosting the patient’s self-confidence. Considering this, there are two main types of brow lifts available depending on the specific needs of the patient: endoscopic and lateral. What is the best type of brow lift? The Philadelphia area’s Dr. Timothy Greco explains that there are certain traits that may make some patients better candidates for one procedure than the other.

See below for a simple comparison between these two cosmetic procedures. The most suitable option for you will depend on your desired look, as well as the type of eyebrows and hairline you have.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

An endoscopic brow lift is a minimally invasive treatment that involves releasing and raising the brow tissue via a few small incisions. These incisions will be made on the scalp, where the resulting small scars will be hidden by the hair. Dr. Greco uses the incisions to anchor tissue with a temporary stitch. There is a shorter recovery time and minimal recovery overall because the incisions are small.

Lateral Brow Lift

A lateral brow lift, also known as a temporal brow lift, is another type of minimally invasive procedure, sometimes described as a “scaled-back” version of the endoscopic brow lift. In addition to adjusting the tissues of the forehead area, this treatment also involves elevating the lateral portion of the eyebrows to enhance the appearance of the eyes, making them look more open and alert. Changes are only made to the outer one-third of the eyebrow. This procedure may involve larger incisions when compared to endoscopic brow lifts, but it is more effective for lifting the outer corners of the eyebrows. Lateral brow lifts are usually combined with eyelid surgery, which may be performed at the same time.
