Clear Up Unwanted Facial and Leg Veins

Visible veins can be an unwelcome condition, especially if the thin lines or associated redness break up what would otherwise be even coloring in the skin. In his effort to always offer advanced solutions for his patients seeking ideal aesthetic results from their treatments, double boardcertified facial surgeon Dr. Timothy M. Greco began offering Vbeam Perfecta at his Philadelphiaarea practice.

Vbeam Perfecta is a pulsed-dye laser that can be used to address spider veins on the face and legs and a variety of other cosmetic problems.

What Does Vbeam Perfecta Treat?

In addition to reducing the appearance of veins—including spider veins and broken capillaries—on the face and legs, the laser energy delivered by Vbeam Perfecta can treat:

  • acne and other scars
  • pigmented and vascular lesions
  • rosacea symptoms
  • stretch marks
  • warts
  • post-surgical scars and bruising

Given his significant experience with facial aesthetics, Dr. Greco handles Vbeam Perfecta treatments for the face, while his aesthetician performs the treatments for the body and legs.

How Does Vbeam Perfecta Work?

As a pulsed dye laser, Vbeam Perfecta causes very specific and selective heating in blood vessels. This heat comes from laser energy that is delivered into the skin with precision to impact oxyhemoglobin in the veins, but leave surrounding tissues intact and unharmed.

The focused heat leads to the collapse of vessel walls and a reduction in their appearance on the surface of the skin. The technology powering the Vbeam Perfecta device has been used to treat port wine stains since the 1980s.

Results That Deserve Recognition

As an experienced thought leader Dr. Greco's contributions to facial aesthetics can be seen across key publications and media outlets.

What Can I Expect from a Vbeam Perfecta Treatment Session?

After a consultation to determine whether Vbeam Perfecta is the ideal option for a patient's desired results, Dr. Greco or his aesthetician will administer the treatment. The device is applied directly to the skin, where a fine mist first cools the surface to help manage both discomfort and posttreatment redness. Many patients describe the treatment as causing a tingling warmth, but topical anesthetic is available for anyone who wants it.

Vbeam Perfecta then delivers an ultra-long pulse that passes through the upper layers of the skin to be absorbed by the red-colored protein oxyhemoglobin. This absorption is what causes the heat that damages the unwanted vessels and leads to their collapse.

In the days and weeks after a Vbeam Perfecta treatment session, patients will see their veins, redness, and other treated lesions fade in appearance as the vessels feeding them are cut off from the rest of the circulatory system and are absorbed into the body. More than one treatment may be necessary to achieve ideal results.

If Vbeam Perfecta is being used to treat post-surgical bruising, patients can expect the skin discoloration to fade in about 48 hours after a session.

More Light-Based Cosmetic Options Near Philadelphia

Dr. Greco's team uses lasers and intense pulse lights for more than just Vbeam Perfecta treatments. His practice also offers Pixel®, a light skin resurfacing laser that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines, as well as smooth out unevenly textured skin. Laser hair removal impacts follicles to reduce hair that would otherwise have to be shaved, plucked, or waxed. Similar to laser, IPL uses intense pulses of light to rejuvenate the skin.
