Consultation
Whether they are traveling from another state or another country, all patients must have an initial consultation to determine whether they would be good candidates for surgery. Although the consultation can be scheduled during the same trip as the surgery itself, it often works best to schedule one trip for the consultation and another for the surgery and recovery. Occasionally, we accept digital photos to initiate the consultation process, but Dr. Greco must always see his patients in person before scheduling surgery.
Pre-Op Procedures
Most surgical procedures require that you complete lab work beforehand. Some patients prefer to fulfill this requirement at home, while others request that it be done in Philadelphia. Our office staff can help you decide which option is best for you, and if you choose to have your regular physician complete the lab work, we will provide a comprehensive list of tests that need to be completed prior to your surgery.
Post-Op Recovery
Your post-operative recovery must be well coordinated so that you have comfortable accommodations, ample recovery time, and support. Dr. Greco and his staff will help you determine how long you will need to stay in Philadelphia following surgery. Although this varies depending on many factors, most patients stay between 5 and 10 days.
Once we have determined how long you should stay, you will need to reserve comfortable accommodations nearby. We have made special arrangements with the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue, which offers a discounted room rate for Dr. Greco's patients.
Because having fun and staying busy makes the recovery seem faster and easier, we encourage our patients to participate in non-strenuous outings or activities while they're recovering. The Hilton concierge can help schedule dinner reservations or recommend daytime activities and shopping.
Returning Home
Once you are cleared to return home, Dr. Greco's staff will explain your recovery in detail, including how soon you can return to work, what to expect in the recovery period, and when to resume various activities.
All patients traveling to Philadelphia for facial plastic surgery should have access to a family doctor at home that they can see in case of complications needing medical attention. We will ask you to provide the name and phone number of this physician so Dr. Greco can contact him or her if necessary.
