Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Laser technology has advanced the art of medicine, particularly in the last decade. Lasers now play a crucial role in many facial enhancements. They can be used to safely remove fine wrinkles on the face including those around the mouth (perioral) and eyes (periorbital), with less chance of scarring. Laser skin rejuvenation can be performed in our Philadelphia office. The reduction in wrinkles and improved skin tone is dramatic and can be noticed soon after the procedure.
We offer several laser rejuvenation options. For the greatest improvement of the skin, patients can choose laser skin resurfacing. This ablative procedure removes the damaged top and middle layers of the skin. It also encourages formation of new collagen. Dr. Greco performs this procedure himself to ensure effective and satisfying results.
Fractional CO2 laser treatments are excellent for the treatment of minor sun spots and fine wrinkles. They take about 60 to 90 minutes and can be performed on many areas of the body, including the face, hands, legs and arms. The recovery period is significantly less than standard CO2 laser resurfacing.
We also offer V Beam pulsed dye laser, which effectively treats broken capillaries on the face, spider veins on the legs, rosacea, and ruddy discoloration on the chest. This laser is also used to treat wrinkles in the eye areas, bruising and improves surgical scars.
While technically not a laser, IPL (intense pulse light) treatments achieve photorejuvenation to improve tone and texture of sun damaged skin, including the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.
Dr. Timothy M. Greco's practice is limited solely to excellence in aesthetic surgery of the face, and he serves patients from Philadelphia and out of the area. Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of laser is used?
There are many kinds of lasers available to treat the skin. These include lasers for fine blood vessels, pigmentary changes and wrinkles. The laser most often used for wrinkle removal is the CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) laser. This laser smooth wrinkles and results in the formation of new collagen to create tightening of the skin.
How long will it take for the skin to heal?
This depends on the type of laser treatment performed. For laser skin resurfacing, initially there will be crusting and swelling of the skin. After several days, the new pink skin is revealed. This pinkness will gradually fade over the next several weeks but can last two to three months. Sunscreen is very important during this phase of healing. Make-up can usually be applied between 10 to 14 days after your procedure. Our aesthetic skincare staff will help with your makeup needs, as well as design a skincare program to maintain your new youthful skin.
Does laser skin resurfacing require just one procedure?
The process of laser peeling is as much an art as it is a science. For the most part, one laser treatment will remove 70-80% of the wrinkles. It may be beneficial to perform a touchup after the initial procedure. BOTOX® and/or fillers can also help to maintain the result.
What are the risks?
Laser skin resurfacing is safer than the deeper chemical peels of the past. Hyperpigmentation may occur and is easily managed with bleaching cream. Your skin will be a shade lighter after healing as a result of treating the pigmentary issues of the skin. Scarring is a rare complication.
What other skin rejuvenation options do you offer?
Dr. Greco performs dermabrasion and deep chemical peels. Dr. Greco and our aesthetic staff perform a wide range of skin treatments including BOTOX Cosmetic and peels & microdermabrasion. The best options for your health and beauty goals will be discussed during your consultation.
